For urgent help:
- If you feel unsafe call 999 and ask for the police
- If you cannot use a voice phone you can text REGISTER to 999 and you will receive a text message which tells you what to do next
For non-urgent specific support covering all types of abuse:
- The Enough Campaign website includes a substantive list of different specialist support services and helplines depending on the type of abuse or violence experienced.
- Victim Support can be called on 0808 168 9111 or contacted via a live chat, which can be accessed via their website. They offer free, independent, and confidential advice to those who have experienced any crime.
- Mind can be called on 0300 123 3393 or emailed at info@mind.org.uk. They provide information and signposting for mental health problems, where to get help, treatment options and advocacy services.
- Samaritans can be called on 116 123 or emailed at jo@samaritans.org. They provide a safe place to talk through feelings and concerns.
For non-urgent specific support covering domestic abuse:
- National Domestic Abuse Helpline can be called for free 24 hours a day on 0808 200 0247. They can help find a refuge vacancy and other specialist services in the community.
- National LGBT+ Domestic Abuse Helpline can be called on 0800 999 5428 or emailed at help@galop.org.uk. The helpline is for LGBT+ people who have or are experiencing domestic abuse. They also provide support for people supporting a survivor of domestic abuse; friends, families and those working with a survivor. Please see their help page for more information on how they can offer support.
- Live Fear Free Helpline can be called on 0808 801 0800 or contacted via a live chat, which can be accessed via their website. They can provide help and advice to anyone experiencing domestic abuse, anyone who knows someone who needs help and practitioners seeking professional advice.
- Women’s Aid have fully trained female support workers available to offer information and support to women via a live chat which can be accessed via their website.
- Respect Men’s Advice Line can be called on 0808 8010327 or emailed at info@mensadviceline.org.uk. They offer support for males who have or are experiencing domestic abuse. More information on what to expect when calling the advice line can be found here.
- Respect Phone Line can be called on 0808 802 4040 or emailed at info@respectphoneline.org.uk. They offer support for people who are worried they may be perpetrating domestic violence. More information on what to expect when calling the helpline can be found here.
For non-urgent specific support covering sexual abuse:
- 24/7 Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Line can be called on 0808 500 2222 or contacted via a live chat, which can be accessed via their website. They provide support for anyone aged 16 and above in England and Wales who have been affected by rape, child sexual abuse, sexual assault, sexual harassment, or any other form of sexual violence – at any point in their life.
- The Survivors Trust can be called on 0808 801 0818 or contacted via a live chat, which can be accessed via their website. They are a fully inclusive service, providing safe, non-judgemental support to survivors of sexual violence, their supporters, and professionals.
- National Male Survivor Helpline can be called on 0808 800 5005 or contacted via a live chat which can be accessed via their website. They provide dedicated services for male survivors of sexual violence for both adults and children and for those who support them living in England and Wales.
For non-urgent specific support covering other types of abuse:
- National Stalking Helpline can be called on 0808 802 0300. They provide practical information, support, and advice on risk, safety planning and legislation to victims of stalking, their friends, family, and professionals.
- The Forced Marriage Unit can be contacted on 020 7008 0151. They can provide support, as well as expert training and guidance to professionals.
- Karma Nirvana Helpline can be called on 0800 5999 247 or emailed at support@karmanirvana.org.uk. They provide support for anyone who is affected by Honour Based Abuse.
- Revenge Porn Helpline can be called on 0345 6000 459 or emailed at help@revengepornhelpline.org.uk. They provide support for adult victims of intimate image abuse who live in the UK. They provide advice, guidance, and support with helping to remove intimate content which has been non-consensually shared online.
